IPhones banned from Syria

The Lebanese press said that the Syrian government banned the marketing and use of smartphones from Apple on its territory, such as the World turns our colleagues.
Newspapers in Lebanon and explain the import of such devices is now prohibited, but more that its users could see them confiscated and then be caught by legal action if they were caught using them.

It seems that the prohibition applies only to phones from Apple. It is difficult to obtain information at the source on this, given that Syria is currently closed to reporters. The country’s authorities do not actually want the foreign media covering the popular uprising against the regime of President Bashar al-Assad, currently inside its borders.
One of the few ways for protesters to communicate with the outside world is just smart phones that offer Internet access and that can take videos and photos, which can then be shared online.
