Kaspersky leaves the Business Software Alliance

The editor of Russian security solutions did not like the BSA supports the US Stop Online Piracy Act.

"The company wishes to clarify the situation and show that it does not support SOPA," she said in a press release, adding that she thought again that "the initiative would be rather against SOPA-productive for the public interest. "The Alliance promotes and affirms that "the purpose of the SOPA is to prevent hackers to reap the benefits of their flights. We believe that this is the right approach."

Kaspersky is no longer a member of the BSA from 1 January 2012.

Comprising about 35 members mainly publishers and software developers (Intel, Dell and Apple are also members), the Business Software Alliance presents itself as "the foremost organization dedicated to promoting the rule of law and security of the digital environment."
