Facebook would have bought a competitor of Foursquare

Facebook would have bought Gowalla location-based social network, a competitor of Foursquare, according to CNN. The aim would be to recover the development team to work on the new feature of Facebook, Timeline. 
Gowalla recently repositioned on niche travel guide, with the ambition of its users to share content related to the places they visit.
