Very high speed moves at high speed

The new report by the ARCEP on very high speed is out. Among other data, it reported 45,000 additional subscribers at very high speed for the third quarter, for a total of 600,000.

Specifically, there are 175,000 fiber "pure" to the subscriber (+ 20,000 over the quarter) and 425,000 fiber coaxial cable with terminator (+ 25,000 over the quarter).

For the record, the coaxial cable is better than the classic bifilliaire phone, because it insulates better, but still below the optical fiber to support for large distances. So it's usually only the termination of the network that is coaxial.

If we include broadband "normal" as ADSL, the number of subscriptions rose to 22.4 million. Net growth is stable, with 1.5 million a year.

It is therefore very high speed which is a leap forward, 71% in one year, but there is still not widespread. The total coverage of the French territory, planned for 2025, was estimated by ARCEP to 21 billion euros.
